Meet Mel

I have loved to cook for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family that lived in the country, where fast food was just not an option and we had home-cooked meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner about 95% of the time.

I was fortunate to have wonderful cooks to watch in my family, with my wonderful mom Judy, my grandma LaVerne and my aunt Claudia. All were tremendous influences on the woman that I’ve become, from their love of food and providing for their friends and family, to how they raised their kids. I’m very fortunate to have such a legacy.

I’m the mom of 6, who’s kids range over a 10-year span and almost as many personalities, occupations and interests. Though they are all adults and on their own now, we always love to get together over a yummy meal and have fond memories of various “favorites” that are repeated regularly.

I also love to plan events, large or small! From a small, handful of friends with heavy appetizers “Snack Attack,” to Dinner parties, Bridal and Baby showers, Family barbecues, Rehearsal dinners, Wedding receptions, and Dessert Bars, I can help you with that. From the vision planning, to the invites, décor and specialized menu. When ordering catering service, the food is available for drop-off and set-up or a full service catering option with servers.

A bit of background: I worked full-time at a church for over 15 years and used my love of cooking and event planning to serve that church family regularly, hence the “heavenly” theme of the business. And whether you are wanting appetizers, a full meal or a dessert bar, we all enjoy a heavenly “bite” now and then.

Whether it’s related family, church family or friends of friends, I’m often asked for recipes. That’s where the food blog comes in. What an easy way to keep track of things I make and things that are requested often. I hope you enjoy stopping by now and then and feel free to send me questions or comments (good or bad…).
